Congratulations on your salt line! What made you want to delve into the culinary world?
My side hustle outside of jewelry is cooking. I love being in the kitchen and cooking for my family. Just like the jewelry, the salt was a happy accident. I was looking for something to season my eggs in the AM that did not contain onion or garlic and when I couldn’t find it, I created my own dish of custom blended salt that I kept next to the stove. The Universal Salt was launched in 2017 and we quickly expanded the line to include Spicy Salt and Curry Salt.
We know you grew up around jewelry-making. Does a love of healthy eating also run in the family?
Growing up in Santa Barbara, we were always lucky to have avocado and lemon trees in our backyard. My father has always been an avid gardener, which definitely contributed to my love for eating the rainbow at a young age.
What’s your go-to everyday jewelry staple and favorite easy weeknight dinner?
My go-to everyday jewelry staple is my JF Custom Charm Necklace. It represents everything that is important to me in my life – most of all my family. If it is not being worn around my neck it is in my purse as my good luck talisman. For night, I always recommend a nice, bold pair of hoop earrings. My favorites right now are the Gold Maeve Hoops.
Since I am a ketotarian, my new favorite easy weeknight dinner (and a total crowd pleaser) is my Vegan Cashew Cream Vodka Sauce paired with my NYC × LA Chopped Salad.
What’s next, do you have plans to expand JFKITCHEN recipes into a cookbook or show?
We are working on expanding Jennifer Fisher Kitchen. All very exciting things — just wait and see!
